About
I have around 10 years lab experience; mainly in histology but also in cytology/pharmaceutical microbiology/cleanrooms. My UG degree is BSc HONS Biomedical Sciences that I did part time whilst working in the lab full time. My Master`s degree was in Science Communication and this started a love of communicating and promoting biosciences. I am a corporate member of the Institute of Biomedical Science, and also the British Association for the Advancement of Science. I am also an HPC registered Biomedical Scientist.

What I can offer to schools
I would like to promote the role of the biomedical scientist as I feel it isn't one that is very well known. It doesn't appear on TV or in any films that I can think of, whereas hospital doctors and nurses are heavily promoted. There is so much more to the care and diagnosis of a patient's disease that is solely down to the laboratory. I am also going to promote the many careers in the NHS with a particular focus on the laboratory sciences and I would like to show that laboratory scientists are ordinary people and are not how the media demonstrate scientists to be: big bushy beards, bespectacled and 200 years old! I am also an amateur astronomer/astrophotographer and am happy to assist on Star Gazing Events/space talks/demos.
