What I can offer to schools

I have a strong knowledge and background in the energy industry, including nuclear, conventional and renewable energy (particularly wind). Also a knowledge in mining and energy resources (including also fracking). I can help teachers to understand those "polemical" topics, their issues and concerns, advantages and disadvantages, in order to get a realistic idea of pros and cons.

We are looking for someone who has good ICT/gaming knowledge to do some sessions with one of our young people who is keen to develop skills in this area. Exactly what would be done in sessions would need to be negotiated. The Ambassador should be willing to work with young people with a diagnosis of autism and associated conditions including challenging behaviour, although there would be no expectations on the Ambassador to manage this, staff will provide support at all times.

As part of National Science Week, we are holding a number of STEM events. One focus will be reaching out to the whole school through assemblies by inviting STEM Ambassadors to talk to particular year groups, enabling them to share their background in Science and their careers. Talks will be around 10-15 minutes and should be concise and inspirational.
Laptops and projectors can be set up but we only have wireless internet for devices. Refreshments will be provided.

Our school is holding a 2-week long programme promoting STEM careers. We would like to invite a variety of different STEM professionals into school at lunch times to deliver inspirational careers talks.

The sessions will last for approx 45 minutes and talks can last for anything between 30 and 45 minutes.

We would like Ambassadors to present what they do, their education background and career pathway. If possible we would like the talks to have a hands-on element.

Your audience will be a group of able pupils who will potentially look towards stretching STEM careers in the future.
