RSA Maths Event

Monday 23rd July saw the RSA Academy launch their Maths and STEM Fayre.

 

Aimed at KS3 and year 8 in particular the event fitted in with the RSA's innovative Opening Minds programmes

 

I was invited to talk briefly about the significance and importance of Maths. Students were then able to access 8 Workshops.

 

I attended a brilliant workshop run by Alan Stokes from GKN. Students were given a realistic lean production exercise. All students were given a specific task and were able to see the impact of a change in Production Methods (moving from Batch to Lean Production).

 

Later the students were able to quiz business people on aspects of their careers.

 

Other institutions included Dudley Zoo and the University of Wolverhampton.
