STEMNET Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Network

I recently was involved in the Enterprise day at City Academy Norwich, the objective of the day was to raise awareness of the Tourism industry in Norfolk & Suffolk. Students were asked to come up with a way of promoting East Anglia and all the great things the area has to offer. There was no limit to what the students could come up with so imagine was allowed to run wild and a chance to get really creative, ideas such as polar bears breathing ice pulling along a dome full of great things from East Anglia, a huge truck that would expand out and contain rides, entertainment, hotels etc that would go around the whole world bringing East Anglia to the people and even picking up the whole of East Anglia and transporting it by robotic birds that would fly East Anglia around the world. 

Not only did the students really enjoy themselves and get a lot of the day, it gave them the chance to see that even if they struggle academically that there are many other avenues they can explore and excell in. To see and speak to professionals within the industry was a real eye opener for the students it will be a day that they remember and go home and speak about increasing the awareness for many others around the county creating a real benefit to the industry. 

I feel like I also got a lot out of the whole day seeing thoughts of the students was a real eye opener to letting your imagination go because you may just come up with something brilliant. 

It was a great day and I would reccommend anyone to get involved as it is a fantastic cause and one day those students will be out in the field looking for jobs so what better way to improve the talent of the future then to get stuck in and help influence their future for the better.
