Derbyshire STEM Ambassadors support Long Eaton School careers event
DEBP and two local STEM Ambassadors had queues of Year 10 and 11 students and their parents keen to talk to them at a recent career fair at The Long Eaton School.
DEBP were having a stand at the event and wanted STEM Ambassadors to support with giving out information on the STEM subjects, whilst also sharing their own story about getting into a STEM career, why they made the decisions they did and so on. Clive Breen from Rolls-Royce plc and Amanda Jackson from Derby Hospitals NHS Trust responded and were a fantastic support throughout the evening.
Clive said, “I got huge satisfaction from sharing my experiences with the queues of parents and students wanting to talk to us. Everyone was so appreciative of the advice I was able to give about getting to work with a company like Rolls-Royce plc. They were also keen to hear about my own personal experiences of education and work as an engineer.”
