My Biology Department is organising a day of sessions to expose AS students to the exciting possibilities and opportunities to pursue a career in the field of bioscience beyond A-level.
This year we would particularly like to focus on careers in bioscience industry and innovation. Our request is for a STEM ambassador to give a talk about their work, the industry in which they carry out this work and their personal journey through science to their current position. However, we are very open to suggestions, ideas and enthusiasm from Ambassadors to shape their own contribution, happy to carry out discussion by e-mail, over the phone or in person.
Our students are typically very high academic achievers, however they lack contact with the world of professional, academic and commercial bioscience; we look to an ambassador to prick their interest.
I really look forward to making contact.

On July 6th we are putting on an " Apprenticeship+" event for our yearr 9 and 10 students. Basically each 1/2 yr group will have a chance to visit the hall where I will have invited about 15 post 16 providers of App'ships and Local colleges.
At the moment a stall based approach is envisaged with an intro talk for 10 mins from a speaker. This will leave students about 50 mins to visit the other "stalls" and chat to providers. Promo lit can be given away. The idea is to alert them to apprenticeships as well as further ed.
We think the start time might be 10.00 and end at 3.15 pm. with lunch and a break in between.

1. 6th form student from Leighton Park School interested in Electrical or Mechanical engineering. Would love some kind of work experience in the summer holidays.
2. 6th form (Yr 12 AS-level) student from Howard of Effingham School student of Effingham at present urgently trying to organise a work experience placement for either June or the summer break. He is interested in Physics and Maths Mechanics, so would appreciate a relevant opportunity, especially related to Physics and Engineering.
If your company can host a work experience student, please let us know. Company visits would also be appreciated.
